Elizabeth Jane Hurley was an English model, actress, and television personality who gained fame in the 1990s when she was Hugh Grant's girlfriend. Hurley was immediately noticed by the media during 1994, after Grant was the focus of attention worldwide for the success in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral. Hurley accompanied Grant at the Los Angeles premiere of the movie wearing the Versace plunge dress, held by gold safetypins. The relationship she has had in the company of Estee Lauder has been the highlight of Hurley's career. Her first modeling gig was at Estee Lauder, when she was just 29 years old. The model has been modeling since 1995 to promote their cosmetics, and in particular perfumes such as Sensuous Intuition or Pleasures. Vanessa Kensington is her best well-known role in her roles in the Mike Myers spy comedies International Man of Mystery (1997) and Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me, both of which became hugely popular. Perry's first attempts to make it within the mainstream world of music failed. Perry was signed to two different labels, and later dropped by them before the release of any music. Capitol Records however released Perry's EP Ur So Gay in 2007. The track that was the title track was a cheerfully flippant song that attracted minimal attention. Perry made more of a splash a few months later, with the single I kissed a Girl an assertive ode to the fascination of sexuality accompanied by a rough electro-pop beat. The song quickly stirred controversy as some critics derided it for promoting same-sex relations as well as others argued that the explicit scenario it depicted catered to the fantasies of males about sexuality in females. I Kissed a Girl, the combination of excitement with a sophisticated melody, helped I Kissed a Girl to become a hit number one in a variety of countries, and to drive sales of her 2008 album One of the Boys. Hot N Cold is a popular second track. Perry also wrote a large portion of the lyrics on the album.
